Call for Papers
Call Deadline: 15-Aug-2010
Abstracts for paper presentations (individual and panel), posters and workshop
sessions are invited on any aspects of gender and language analysis from a variety of fields, including bilingualism, communication studies, conversation
analysis, cultural studies, discourse analysis, language acquisition, linguistic
anthropology, media studies, multicultural studies, multilingualism, queer studies, second language teaching, sociolinguistics,
and other related fields and disciplines.
- Authors must create an account with the IGALA6 website in order to submit a paper proposal. https://orc. tsuda.ac.

- All presenters must be paid members of IGALA at the time of presentation.

Author Guidelines:
I) Paper Presentations
a) Individual papers: Each individual paper should be no more than 20 minutes in
length with 8 minutes of time for questions. (This allows for two minutes of
time for the change in presenters etc.)
Individual paper abstract submissions:
- The abstract should be no longer than250 words,not including references, figures, tables, and/or graphs.
- Authors should not include their names or otherwise reveal their identity anywhere in the abstract file.
b) Panels: Each panel should be organized around a specific theme or topic. Each
panel should be composed of no more than three speakers in one 90 minute slot,
and allow at least 15 minutes for questions and general discussion.
Panel abstract submission:
- The overall panel abstract should be no longer than150 words outlining the
theme and focus of the panel overall.
- A 250 word abstract for each of the presentations within the panel should
immediately follow the overall panel outline.
- Authors should not include their names or otherwise reveal their identity
anywhere in the abstract file.
II) Posters
Each poster should be no more than 1m wide by 1m high. Please follow the
Guidelines for Posters to be Displayed at IGALA6.
Poster abstract submission:
- The abstract should be no longer than250 words,not including references,
figures, tables, and/or graphs.
- Authors should not include their names or otherwise reveal their identity
anywhere in the abstract file.
Guidelines for Posters to be Displayed at IGALA6
1. Maximum poster size is 1m wide by 1.5m high.

2. All posters must be professionally printed rather than constructed with scissors and glue. Despite the cost, we
3. strongly recommend that you have them laminated to avoid tearing.

3. We recommend that you also bring a document wallet in which to place your handouts. The wallet can stand

taken by interested parties throughout the conference. Abundant feedback and

personal contacts are strengths of the poster format, so you should provide an

e-mail address in the handout for those who want to contact you later.

4. Posters for IGALA6 will be mounted with material supplied, but if you want to use your poster for future
11. conferences, veterans recommend fitting your poster with metal rings to facilitate hanging.

5. Posters will be exhibited throughout the conference (from Saturday morning to Monday afternoon) and a
13. dedicated poster session has been timetabled in the program during which you should be available to answer
14. questions.
III) Workshops

16. Workshops should provide a forum for open discussion or exploration of issues of
interest to the conference themes. Workshops will be scheduled into 90 minute
slots in the regular program.

IV. The GALE Stream
IGALA6 is pleased to have the support of the GALE (Gender Awareness in Language Education) SIG, JALT (Japan Association of Language Teachers) A GALE stream will run throughout the conference for members of GALE. Below are some GALE panels that are in the making .
